Madison Moran
Artist Biography
Madison Moran is a practicing artist working with metals, watercolors, pencil and charcoals, who earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jewelry and Metals at The Cleveland Institute of Art. She grew up in the small town of Allegany in Western New York. As a child, her great-grandfather, grandfather, grandmother and father had intensive careers/hobbies in building with their hands and found herself curious and most comfortable around their workshops and craft tables.
Early in life, being in her mother’s at-home daycare, growing up with 4 set of grandparents, being involved in many school activities, then, later in life, being a part of the Women's Flat Track Roller Derby League (WFTA) has led her to be a strong observer of the importance of all social relationships. Which led her to creating pencil and charcoal drawings of physical touch, watercolor portraits of homes, and crafting metal wearables, utilitarian objects and sculptures that encourage positive human interaction.
With that in mind, she enjoyed assistant teaching three metal shop Continuing Education courses at the Cleveland Institute of Art. She has been accepted into Southern Illinois Metalsmiths Society’s “Form Forge Fabricate” show (‘16) and selected to show work at The Cleveland Institute of Art’s Annual Student Exhibition (‘17). She has created and participated in the CIA’s “Galvanized” runway show (‘18), the “Form” runway show (‘16) and had work chosen to show three Spring Shows at C.I.A. (‘16,’17,’18). Along with receiving The Fred Miller Jewelry and Metals Scholarship, The Gund Family Scholarship, and the Horace Potter Scholarship.
Now working out of her home drawing studio in Corning, New York, she's thrilled to begin her studio career.
